Could the Key to a Happier Community Be Simpler Than We Think? Washington, DC Event Explores the Possibility

WASHINGTON, DC — March 20, 2026 — Community members, educators, nonprofit leaders and local partners are invited to celebrate the International Day of Happiness at a special Open House hosted by the Founding Church of Scientology of Washington, D.C..

The event will take place from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM at the church, located at 1424 16th Street NW in Washington, DC, and will highlight practical tools for building stronger individuals, healthier communities and a more positive future for the nation’s capital.

The uplifting community gathering will feature exhibits, presentations and discussions centered around The Way to Happiness, a nonreligious guide authored by L. Ron Hubbard that offers practical principles for living a more ethical and fulfilling life. The booklet has been distributed in more than 100 languages and is used globally by educators, community leaders and organizations working to promote values such as honesty, responsibility and respect for others.

“International Day of Happiness is a reminder that building a better world begins with the choices we make as individuals,” said Chas Smith, who will serve as Master of Ceremonies for the event. “This Open House is an opportunity for people in Washington, DC to discover practical tools that help strengthen communities and encourage greater understanding and cooperation.”

Event Schedule

11:30 AM – Self-Guided Tour
Guests can explore a special exhibit in the Public Information Center highlighting The Way to Happiness and global humanitarian initiatives.

11:50 AM – Complimentary Lunch
Attendees are invited to enjoy a light lunch while connecting with fellow community members.

12:10 PM – Open House Presentation
A presentation will explore the impact of The Way to Happiness and how its practical principles are being used worldwide to promote ethics, trust and community well-being.

12:45 PM – Networking & Community Dialogue
Participants will have the opportunity to meet local community members, share ideas and explore collaborative efforts to help create a happier, safer and more positive Washington, DC.

Throughout the event, guests will experience interactive exhibits, real-world success stories and access to free educational resources for schools, organizations and community groups.
