Daddy Issues Author Allan Sidley Brings Us Laughter This Father’s Day

Put Some Much-Needed Comedy in Your Life Father's Day Weekend Courtesy of Allan Sidley

Many life lessons have been learned in the past year- since author and comedian Allan Sidley published his first book, settled into a new city, and re-entered the unruly waters of the post-pandemic comedy scene with gigs around the nation, including stand-up performances in L.A, NY, D.C, Baltimore, and Richmond.

Now, Sidley, the author of Daddy Issues: A Fatherless Comedian’s Original Jokes, is celebrating the one year anniversary of his book release (a #1 new release on Amazon) by returning to the stage for his second one-hour special and will headline three shows over Father’s Day weekend at local institution Busboys and Poets locations in DC, Maryland, and Virginia.

Highlights of Sidley’s recent performances include an audition in LA and featuring five shows at the Sandman Comedy Club in Richmond, where he sold out of books.

“Seeing new fans excited to read my book after seeing me perform live stand-up was very cool,” Sidley recalled, who is also producing an open mic at Baltimore’s Mustang Alley’s.

Overcoming stage fright, anxiety, depression, and writer’s block, Sidley, an expert wordsmith, is a true inspiration to all of us who have had difficulties in our bumpy life journeys.

Sidley, whose father died when he was nine months old, grew up with a supportive loving single mom, a confident demeanor, and a strong belief that we can not only survive, but thrive, despite early hardships or difficulties. He has proven that confidence, and resilience, can see us through our most difficult times and beyond.

Today, at 32, Sidley -- resides in Baltimore, Maryland, and is a stand-up comic, author, producer, sketch comedy writer, hip hop improviser, podcaster, motivational speaker, and business consultant.

He has built a following in Northern Virginia, D.C., Baltimore, Richmond, and New York, and anticipates an East Coast summer/fall 2022 tour.

The future looks very bright and full for Sidley. He wants to take an hour from his Father’s Day gig and pitch the special to streaming platforms, and there are plans for a second book to be released in 2023/2024. “I have plenty more jokes than I know what to do with.”
