DC To Add Five 24-Hour Pick-Up And Drop-Off Zones In Busy Areas
DC's Department of Transportation is adding five 24-hour pick-up and drop-off zone locations in busy areas.

WASHINGTON, DC — Following a successful pilot program, the District Department of Transportation is launching five new pick-up and drop-off zone locations. The 24/7 designated curbside spaces are exclusively for passenger pick-ups/drop-offs and commercial loading.
“Our goal with the expansion of this pilot is to reduce conflicts between vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists,” said Mayor Muriel Bowser. “By rethinking how we move people and goods between the street and the sidewalk, we can better adapt to a changing transportation landscape and find new ways to work together to meet our Vision Zero goals.”
The city's Vision Zero Initiative aims to eliminate fatal crashes and serious injuries by 2024.
