DC Approves Elon Musk To Start Work On Massive Hyperloop: Report
Musk wants to build a "Hyperloop" that could take people from D.C. to New York in a half an hour.

WASHINGTON, DC -- Elon Musk, the billionaire owner of Tesla and SpaceX, is taking on a massive new project right here in the D.C. area: a "Hyperloop" that would take people from D.C. to New York in about a half hour.
The Washington Post reports that D.C. has approved Elon Musk's Boring Company to start work on the project. The digging permit contains few details, but says the company is approved for preparatory and excavation work in the NoMa neighborhood at 53 New York Avenue in Northeast.
Unlike trains that run on tracks, the Hyperloop would work by using a vacuum-based system to propel pods at speeds reaching 600 miles per hour. The pods reportedly would also be able to transport larger objects like cars.

When Musk first raised the possibility of the Hyperloop, there were a lot of doubts on whether he could obtain the permits necessary to build such a system. This would be a vital first step in making the Hyperloop a reality.
