DC Driver Killed Fixing Flat In Hit And Run Crash: Police
Virginia State Police are looking for the driver of a tractor-trailer who fled the scene after fatally hitting a DC man fixing a flat tire.

WASHINGTON, DC — Virginia State Police are looking for the driver of a tractor-trailer who fled the scene after fatally striking a Washington, D.C. man fixing a flat tire in Warren County Tuesday night.
Authorities say a pair of pickup trucks were eastbound on I-66 shortly before 8:30 p.m. One of the pickups got a flat tire; and both vehicles pulled off to the highway's right shoulder at the 5-mile marker, near the highway sign for Exit 6 in Winchester.
The driver of one pickup truck — 55-year-old Steven D. Mackall of Washington, D.C. — got out to fix the tire, which was on the driver's side in the front of the vehicle. While Mackall was working on his silver Chevrolet, a tractor-trailer traveling eastbound hit him. According to police, witnesses said the tractor-trailer was white.
