WASHINGTON, DC — Thanks to a group of Washington, D.C. firefighters, a baby girl was delivered safely into the world Monday. The baby was born right on an office floor inside the D.C. firehouse near Eastern Market after her mother got off the bus when she realized she was going into labor.

The birth was a first for the firehouse located on the 400 block of Eighth Street SE, the Washington Post reported. The delivery happened quickly — less than 10 minutes, firefighters from the station said.

"It's one of the coolest calls you can go on," said firefighter Donna Tidaback in a video uploaded to DC Fire and EMS's Facebook page. "A lot of times when we're running calls, it's the worst day of somebody's life, but when you're delivering a baby, it's the best day of your life. It's a good change for us."

"It was absolutely amazing," said firefighter Zeek Dziekan. "Probably my best day on the job, as far as positive things happening."

After the birth, the healthy baby girl, her 2-year-old sibling and their mother were taken to the hospital by ambulance.
