WASHINGTON, DC — Dunbar High School in Northwest DC was evacuated Thursday morning due to a problem with hazardous materials, according to DC Fire and EMS.
A Hazmat unit was called in and students and staff members were forced to briefly evacuate. The school at 101 N St. NW was evacuated because of "fumes from fuel-soaked soil at [a] construction site," the DC fire department said on Twitter.
DC Fire and EMS said people were allowed back into the school midmorning, after the Hazmat unit metered the building and deemed the air quality safe.
