DC Homicide Suspect Arrested, Faces Armed Robbery Charge
D.C. Police arrested a suspect in connection with a March 25 homicide and also charged him for a January armed robbery.
WASHINGTON, DC — Homicide detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department arrested a suspect in the March 25 fatal shooting of Zenus Epps, 33, of Southeast, according to a police release.
Officers from the Sixth District responded around 10:05 p.m., to the 3500 block of A St., S.E., for the report of the sound of gunshots. Arriving officers found Epps unconscious and suffering from a gunshot wound. D.C. Fire and EMS took the Epps to an area hospital for treatment. Efforts to save his life failed and he was pronounced dead.
Acting on a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Eldred Watts, 26, of Southeast, and charged him with first degree murder while armed. Acting on a second arrest warrant, police also charged Watts with armed robbery for his role in an rrmed robbery offense that took place Thursday, Jan. 30, in the 3800 block of Minnesota Ave., N.E. This case remains under investigation.
