A judge sentenced a 63-year-old D.C. man to life in prison after he was found guilty in October of multiple counts of child sexual abuse.

WASHINGTON, DC — A federal judge sentenced a 63-year-old Washington, D.C., man to life in prison Friday after he was found guilty by a jury in October of multiple counts of child sexual abuse and production of child pornography.

The man, from Southeast D.C., was not named by the U.S. Department of Justice to protect the privacy of the victim.

The man repeatedly sexually abused his stepdaughter from May 2016 until April 2017, according to the government’s evidence. The victim was 12 and 13 years old at the time and living with her mother, younger sister and the man at his apartment.

The man also told the victim to take photographs of herself constituting child sexual abuse material and to transfer those photographs to his cell phones, according to the government.

These photographs, along with dozens of text messages to the victim corroborating the sexual abuse, were recovered from the man’s electronic devices by law enforcement, the government said.
