DC Police Charge Suspect In Fatal Shooting Of Baltimore Man
D.C. police arrested a suspect in connection with the Jan. 11 fatal shooting of a 41-year-old Baltimore man in the Carver/Langston area.
WASHINGTON, DC — Metropolitan Police Department homicide detectives arrested a suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of Tavon Cox, 41, of Baltimore, in January, according to a police release.
On Jan. 11, at about 8:03 p.m., officers from the Fifth District responded to the 700 block of 24th Street, Northeast to the report of a shooting. Arriving on the scene, officers found Cox inside a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds. D.C. Fire and EMS transported the cox to a nearby hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries, where he succumbed to injuries on Sunday, Jan. 12, and was pronounced dead.
Acting on a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Knico Wheaton, 23, of Southwest, on Tuesday. They charged him with first degree murder while armed.
