DC Police Investigate Fatal Shooting In Bellevue

DC homicide detectives are investigating a fatal shooting of a Southeast man that took place Thursday, Jan. 28, in Bellevue.

WASHINGTON, DC -- Metropolitan Police Department detectives are investigating a homicide that took place Thursday night in the Bellevue neighborhood, according to a police report.

Officers from the Seventh District responded Jan. 30, about 8:10 p.m., to the 100 block of Atlantic Street, S.E., to the report of a shooting. Arriving on the scene, officers discovered an adult male inside a residence suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. D.C. Fire and EMS determined the victim displayed no signs of life and pronounced him dead. The victim was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Police identified the decedent as John Seegars, 30, of Southeast.

Following an initial investigation of the scene, officers determined the offense took place inside the residence.
