DC Public Schools Calendar 2017-18: First Day Of School, Vacations, Holidays

When's the first day of school for DC Public Schools students? That, and other must-know dates for parents, students and teachers.

WASHINGTON, DC — Record scratch, school can't be right around the corner, can it? It's still a ways away, but these things have a knack for sneaking up on you during the dog days of summer. The first day of school for DC Public Schools is Aug. 21.

The DC Public School District has released its 2017-2018 calendar for public schools. The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

  • 6/21: First Day Of School

September

  • 9/4: No School (Labor Day)
  • 9/22: No School for Students

October

  • 10/9: No School (Columbus Day)
  • 10/27: End of Term, no school for students

November

  • 11/10: No School (Veterans Day)
  • 11/23-24: No School (Thanksgiving)

December

  • 12/22 - 12/29: No School (Winter Break)

January

  • 1/1-2: No School (New Year's Day)
  • 1/15: No School (Martin Luther King, Jr. Day)
  • 1/19: End of Term, no school for students

February

  • 2/16: No School For Students
  • 2/19: No School (Presidents' Day)

March

  • 3/26-30: No School (Spring Break)

April

  • 4/6: End of Term, students dismissed at 12:15 p.m.
  • 4/16: No School
  • 4/27: No School

May

  • 5/24: Parent Conference Day, no school for students
  • 5/25: No School for Students
  • 5/28: No School (Memorial Day)

June

  • 6/13: Last Day of School
