Marco Rubio Wins D.C. Republican Caucus 2016
Gov. John Kasich comes in a close second among D.C. Republicans.

Sen. Marco Rubio won the Washington Republican Caucus on Saturday. Gov. John Kasich came in a close second.
The D.C. Republican Party convention was held at the Loews Madison Hotel. Voters selected delegates and presidential candidates.
Marco Rubio won 37 percent of the vote, according to The Associated Press. John Kasich was in second with 36 percent.

Donald Trump had 14 percent and Ted Cruz had 12 percent.
Of the proportional allocation of delegates, Rubio receives 10 and Kasich will take 9. Trump and Cruz are walking away without any delegates in D.C.

Long Lines, Long Wait for Results
Hours were extended until 9 p.m. Saturday, but only for Sabbath-observant Jews. Other Republican members needed to be in line by 4 p.m.
D.C. Republicans had to be registered with the party as of Jan. 1, 2016.
In advance of the caucus, Rubio led with 31 endorsements among the 160 people running to be delegates, according to WTOP.
According to the D.C. Republican website, it was only expected to take a few minutes to vote, but there were reports all day of long lines.
