DC’s SUNdeVICH Makes List Of Best Sandwich Shops
SUNdeVICH, with two locations in D.C., is known for its international approach with sandwiches named after cities across the world.

WASHINGTON, DC — While Thrillist called it a “best-kept-secret sandwich shop,” flying under the radar didn’t stop D.C.’s SUNdeVICH from making the publication’s list of 33 Best Sandwich Shops.
In selecting the shops, Thrillist picked a wide range of establishments representing “the best of American sandwiching, from old-school delis to high-end counters, trend-setting international flavor ambassadors, and everything in between.”
SUNdeVICH, with locations at 1314 9th St. N.W. and 3210 Grace St. N.W., has a menu that tours the world with sandwiches named after cities like Rome, Havana, Berlin and Buenos Aires. The best part is the ingredients and flavors of each sandwich represent the region for which they are named — the Rome is an Italian cold-cut lover’s dream; the Berlin features bratwurst, sauerkraut and mustard; and the Havana is roasted pork, gruyere, pickles and dijonnaise.

A cool way to get hot protein! Our Buenos Aires is a steak sandwich with grilled onions and chimichurri. Try it with an egg and gruyere and you’ll never go back :) pic.twitter.com/SxsBlbL5lI

According to SUNdeVICH’s website, the sandwich shop strives to offer fresh ingredients -- the business has no freezer or walk-in cooler. Bread is baked fresh daily, and it’s not unusual for the shop to close early because it ran out of ingredients.
SUNdeVICH also was voted best sandwich by readers of The Washington Post and the Washingtonian.
