WASHINGTON, DC — Wayne Rooney, a star soccer player with D.C. United in Washington, D.C., was arrested on public intoxication and swearing charges, sources told WJLA-TV sports reporter Erin Hawksworth.

Hawksworth also posted a photo of details of Rooney's misdemeanor case on Twitter. The document shows Rooney, of Bethesda, Maryland, was arrested on Dec. 16 and charged with public swearing/intoxication. He was released a day later on his own recognizance.

The Athletic reported airport police arrested in Loudoun County, Virginia, after playing at an event in Saudi Arabia days earlier. He paid a $25 fine last week.
