UPDATE (Jan. 31, 8:30 a.m.): The Metropolitan Police Department released a photo of a vehicle of interest in connection with the Tuesday, Jan. 28, death of a woman struck by a car while crossing Suitland Parkway. The vehicle is described as a black Nissan, which may have damage on its front bumper/grill and windshield.

WASHINGTON, DC -- Metropolitan Police Department detectives with the Major Crash Investigations Unit are looking into the death of a woman who was struck by a car while crossing Suitland Parkway Tuesday night, according to a police report.

On Jan. 28, around 8:07 p.m., officers responded to Suitland Parkway, where they found an unconscious individual lying in the inbound lands before the Irving Street exit ramp, Southeast. D.C. Fire and EMS units responded to the scene, but they found no signs of life. The decedent was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the decedent, who has been identified as Cheryln Ninette Bell, 49, of Southeast, D.C., was crossing from the south side of Suitland Parking in the direction of Irving Street, Southeast, when she was hit by an unknown vehicle. The case remains under investigation.
