DCist Resurrected After Radio Stations Rescue Gothamist: Report
The site, which had been shut down along with Gothamist and LAist last fall, was purchased by WAMU and two other stations.

WASHINGTON, DC -- A group of public radio stations has banded together to snap up Gothamist, meaning that DCist will be coming back after being shut down in the fall.
WTOP reports that WAMU in Washington was one of the radio stations that came to Gothamist's rescue, along with WNYC in New York and KPCC in Southern California. Two anonymous donors are responsible for the acquisition, the broadcasters said according to the report.
Gothamist, along with DCist and LAist, suddenly shut down last fall after workers voted to unionize. The sites' owner, DNAinfo, claimed they weren't worth keeping open.

Last Thursday, local New York news websites Gothamist and DNAinfo were abruptly shut down by their billionaire owner Joe Ricketts just a week after company employees successfully unionized.
