According to the CDC, Black women are three times more likely to die from a pregnancy-related cause than White women. In Washington, DC, Black women account for more than 90% of pregnancy-related deaths in DC.

To bring greater awareness, Amerigroup DC this week, Black Maternal Health Week( April 11-17) joined several organizations, including Wolomi, the Ward 8 Health Council, A Wider Circle, Operation Pathways, and A Queen Moma Doula for a series of events to educate Washington DC residents about how to maintain good maternal health.

The activities culminated with a special session with students at Dunbar High School.

The discussion was led by A Queen Momma Doula founder Crystal Jackson (l) and Jasmin Seville (r), Whole Health Director for Amerigroup DC.
