Fatal Stabbing In Kingman Park Under Investigation

D.C. homicide detectives are investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred Thursday night in the Kingman Park neighborhood.

WASHINGTON, DC — Homicide detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department are investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred Thursday night in the Kingman Park area, according to a police report.

Officers from the Fifth District responded around 7:18 p.m., to the 1600 block of E St., N.E., for the report of a stabbing. Police found a man suffering from an apparent stab wound. D.C. Fire and EMS transported the victim to a nearby hospital, but all lifesaving efforts failed and he was pronounced dead.

Police identified the decedent as Vondell Hatton, 31, of Northeast.

This is the second fatal stabbing MPD is investigating that occurred on Thursday. Earlier in the day, Jamaul Crockett, 36, of no fixed address, was stabbed to death in the 600 block of Lamont St., N.W.

MPD is currently offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of any persons responsible for committing a homicide in the District. Police ask anyone with information about either of these cases to call 202-727-9099 or send an anonymous tip by text to 50411.
