Smoke Billows From Roof Of Metro's Future Headquarters Building In DC
District of Columbia firefighters extinguished the fire at WMATA's future headquarters late Thursday morning and were checking for hotspots.

WASHINGTON, DC — DC Fire and EMS responded to a fire Thursday morning in Southwest D.C. on the roof of a high-rise building under construction.
Two firefighters were transported to local hospitals after responding to the fire. One firefighter had a minor injury and the other firefighter was transported to a hospital with a "non-life-threatening medical condition," DC Fire said.
The building, at 300 7th St. SW, is going to be the future headquarters building of the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority.

"Preliminarily, it appears the fire was accidental and confined to roofing materials," Metro tweeted Thursday afternoon. "We do not anticipate any significant impacts to our plan to transition workers into the building next year."
Around 11:15 a.m., DC Fire and EMS tweeted that it had extinguished the fire and was checking for hotspots.

The fire was confined only to roofing material, according to the department.
