Flash Flood Watch Issued For DC, NoVa Through Wednesday

National Weather Service issued a flash flood watch Tuesday for Washington, D.C. and parts of Virginia.

WASHINGTON, DC — The National Weather Service issued a flash flood watch Tuesday for most of the Washington, D.C. metro area. The watch goes into at effect 8 p.m. on Tuesday and runs through 10 p.m on Wednesday.

Flash flooding conditions are expected for D.C. and the following areas in Virginia: Albemarle, Arlington, Falls Church, Alexandria, Augusta, Central Virginia Blue Ridge, Clarke, Culpeper, Eastern Loudoun, Fairfax, Greene, Madison, Nelson, Northern Fauquier, Northern Virginia Blue Ridge, Orange, Page, Prince William, Manassas, Manassas Park, Rappahannock, Southern Fauquier, Spotsylvania, Stafford, Warren and Western Loudoun.

Residents can expect multiple rounds of heavy showers and thunderstorms to drench the region, with a potential of 1 to 2 inches of rain falling, according to NWS. In some areas, as much as 3 inches of rain are possible.
