Foreign Service Officer Turned Wealth Management Exec Returns to D.C.

Francisco “Frank” Castellanos has been named the Merrill Market Executive for the Washington DC market. The DC market is comprised of nearly 150 advisors, $31 billion in client balances and has experienced rapid growth in recent years. Frank will relocate to DC and report to Craig Young, Mid-Atlantic Division Executive.

“We are thrilled to have Frank leading the D.C. market, a large, complex market with national significance,” said Young. “He brings tremendous leadership experience, a uniquely D.C. background, and most importantly a passion for supporting advisors serving clients,” said Young.

“My family and I are energized to come home to D.C. and continue the proud tradition of the Merrill team in the Nation’s Capital. We will lead in the community, serve our clients, and bring the power of Wall Street to D.C. I am proud to represent this incredible team,” said Castellanos.

Frank most recently was the Merrill Market Executive for Greater Virginia. Prior to his Market Executive role, Frank served in Bank of America’s policy office, concentrating on cyber and international policy issues.

For the past 18 months, Frank also served as Market President of Bank of America Hampton Roads, where he was responsible for connecting clients, teammates and communities to the full power of the franchise, driving integration across the company’s eight lines of business. In that role, he additionally led the local effort to deploy the bank’s resources to help advance economic mobility and build strong communities.

Before joining Bank of America, Frank spent 20 years as a Foreign Service officer, serving several tours in the Middle East, Latin America, and Asia, including command positions in war zones and other hostile environments. Frank guided U.S. policy, foreign collection, and investments to protect American interests abroad.

Frank is active in several of Bank of America’s employee networks, and currently serves as the vice chair of Merrill’s Hispanic Latino Advisory Council. He is active in the Cub Scouts, volunteers with local area food banks and is passionate about serving military families and Foreign Service families.
