Hillary Clinton to Make First Public Appearance Since Election Loss in DC: Report

WASHINGTON, DC — Despite the fact that her shocking upset loss to Donald Trump in the presidential election is barely a week old, Hillary Clinton isn't taking much time to lick her wounds before jumping back into the public eye, according to a report. She'll be speaking at a Children's Defense Fund event at the Newseum here in D.C. on Wednesday.

Clinton, who worked for the Children's Defense Fund back in the 1970s, will be honored at the 26th Beat the Odds Celebration for her "dedication and contributions to child advocacy," according to a statement from the organization.

"The Children's Defense Fund is honored to celebrate and recognize a life-long champion of children who never gives up and never stops working to change the odds for children," Marian Wright Edelman, president of the Children's Defense Fund, said in the statement. "Never has there been a more urgent time for all of us to help bind our wounds and heal our divisions and work for a nation and world where all children are respected and protected and no child is left behind. We thank Hillary who has been a tireless voice for children from the Children's Defense Fund's beginning as a young staff attorney, then board member and board chair."

The statement does not specifically state that Clinton will be in attendance, but a Bloomberg report cites a Clinton aide as saying she would be there.

Five high school seniors who have overcome "tremendous adversity" will be highlighted at the event, and each will receive a $10,000 scholarship.

The event takes place Wednesday, Nov. 16 at 8 p.m. The Newseum is located at 555 Pennsylvania Avenue NW.
