Maryland Little Leaguers Rout DC In Mid-Atlantic Region Slugfest

Maryland piled on 14 hits Tuesday — including a pair of home runs — while D.C. was able to get nine of its own.

BRISTOL, CT – Maryland's Little League baseball team has defeated Washington, D.C. in the Mid-Atlantic regional tournament. And the game was an all-out slugfest. The Berlin Little Leaguers beat the Mamie Johnson Little League team Tuesday 18-7. The game was played in Bristol, Connecticut.

Maryland's Lukas Loring and Adam Gardner combined for seven of the team's 14 hits in the contest, and contributed four RBIs. Owen Knerr stole the show though with a pair of home runs and accounting for five RBIs on his own.

On the D.C. side, Jibril Scott lead the team with four hits and two runs scored, including a double. Solomon McKinney and Tony Hairston also contributed doubles, with McKinney accounting for two RBIs.

Both teams came into the game coming off losses. Maryland fell to New Jersey on Monday and D.C. was defeated by New York over the weekend.

The Mid-Atlantic champion will go on to play the Midwest champion Aug. 16 in the Little League World Series.
