Man Rescued From Potomac River Near Georgetown Harbor
DC public safety personnel rescued a man who fell into the Potomac River Sunday night as he was walking on the Georgetown Harbor pier.
WASHINGTON, DC — D.C. public safety personnel pulled a man out of the Potomac River in Georgetown Sunday night, according to posts on the D.C. Fire and EMS official Twitter account.
Units were dispatched Feb. 16, at 11:20 p.m., for the report of someone in the water in the 3000 block of K Street, N.W., in the area of the Georgetown Harbor complex, according to Vito Maggiolo, D.C. Fire and EMS public information officer. They responded with land-based units and a fireboat.
"We arrived to find an adult male in the water partially beneath the dock bulkhead," Maggiolo said, in an email. "Once he was located, it took about 5 minutes to safely remove him from the water. He did not suffer physical injuries and was transported to an area hospital for further evaluation."

Two Metropolitan Police Department officers assisted in pulling the man out of the water, according to an MPD report. The man told officers he was walking by the pier on the way to his car when he tripped and fell into the river.
