Man's Body Found In Massive DC Apartment Fire
The body of a man was found at the site of Saturday's three-alarm apartment complex fire in the 1300 block of Peabody Street.
WASHINGTON, DC — The body of a man was found at the site of the three-alarm apartment building fire in the 1300 block of Peabody Street, Northwest DC., DC Fire Chief Gregory Dean announced Sunday.
The body was found after Saturday's fire ripped through a four-story apartment building and displaced 200 residents around 3 a.m. Saturday.
According to Dean, investigators believe the fire originated where the man's body was found. Investigators found the body of the adult male on a top floor of the apartment.

The fire injured six residents and five firefighters. Residents were forced to escape out windows and down ladders while flames shot through the roof. Authorities said four people were treated at the scene and one person was taken to a local hospital.

Over 150 fighters responded to the scene, and five of them were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, authorities said.
The building was considered unsafe for its residents as of Sunday. The National Capitol Region Red Cross is seeking donations and Emery Recreation Center is being used as a sheltering location for the displaced residents.
