Metro To Riders: Please, Stop Riding Our Trains
A new notice issued to Metro customers has a lot of them seeing red -- thanks to the Red Line.
WASHINGTON, DC -- Not surprisingly, WMATA's 45-day shutdown of two Metro stations on the Red Line in D.C. has caused chaos throughout the system. But it's a notice issued to riders that has really set off a lot of loyal Metro customers.
The notice points out that in addition to the Red Line shutdown between Fort Totten and NoMa-Gallaudet, the Orange and Silver line trains will single track 24/7 between McPhernson Square and Smithsonian from Aug. 13-24. And on Aug. 11-12 and 25-26, Farragut West and McPherson Square will be closed, with Metro Center serving only Red Line trains.
Metro ended this announcement with the following line: "Only take Metro if you have no other option."

From the looks of things on social media, the shutdown isn't going well for commuters, with extremely crowded stations particularly on the Red Line.
