Metro Schedule For Jan. 12 - 13: Buses Replace Trains, More

If you're taking the Metro this weekend, you should plan accordingly. Buses will replace trains on certain lines.

WASHINGTON, DC — There's plenty to see in the D.C. metro area this weekend — including 'New Nature' at Artechouse, DC Onesie Crawl 2019, and Afternoon Tea at the Ritz-Carlton.

If you're thinking of taking the Metro on Saturday, Jan. 12 or Sunday, Jan. 13, you should plan accordingly. Service changes might cause some delays. Here's everything you need to know before heading out for the weekend:

Blue Line trains will operate on a regular weekend schedule between Franconia-Springfield Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and Rosslyn and Largo Town Center.

Yellow Line trains will run on a regular weekend schedule between Huntington and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

Free shuttle buses will replace trains between Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, Crystal City, Pentagon City, Pentagon, and Rosslyn on three routes (applies to both Blue and Yellow lines):

  • The Blue Line shuttle, which will not stop at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, will run every five to 10 minutes between Braddock Road, Crystal City, Pentagon City, Pentagon, and Rosslyn.
  • The D.C.-Airport Express Shuttle will run every five to 10 minutes between Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and L'Enfant Plaza.
  • The Pentagon-Airport Shuttle will run every 15 minutes between Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, Crystal City, Pentagon City, and Pentagon.

Stations that will be closed (on both the Blue and Yellow lines) are Pentagon, Pentagon City, and Crystal City.

Riders traveling to and from Arlington Cemetery: Blue Line trains will operate between Largo Town Center and Arlington Cemetery until 7 p.m. Transportation officials said there will be no service to and from points south of the area (i.e., Pentagon) and no shuttle bus service at Arlington Cemetery.

Riders traveling to and from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (applies to both Blue and Yellow lines):

  • From Braddock Road and stations south of the area: use Metrorail. Blue and Yellow line trains will run between Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and Franconia-Springfield and Huntington.
  • From Pentagon, Pentagon City, or Crystal City: Hop on the Pentagon-Airport Shuttle from Pentagon, Pentagon City, or Crystal City to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.
  • From D.C. and stations north of the area: take Metrorail to L'Enfant Plaza and transfer to the D.C.-Airport Express Shuttle, located at the 7th and D streets exit.

To accommodate shuttle bus connections, the last Blue Line train will leave Franconia-Springfield and subsequent stations 24 minutes ahead of schedule. The last Yellow Line train will leave Huntington and subsequent stations 23 minutes ahead of schedule.

The Red, Orange, Green, and Silver lines will operate on a normal weekend schedule.
