Metro Worker Fired For Falsifying Reports Wins Job Back: Report

An arbitration panel reportedly has ruled that Metro trained the workers to do it.

WASHINGTON, DC -- An arbitration panel has determined that a Metro track worker was improperly fired for falsifying reports, according to a report.

WTOP reports that the panel ruled the inspectors were not properly trained and weren't provided with enough time to do the inspections.

The 60-page decision calls for fired worker Christopher Bell to be reinstated as a track walker but not as a supervisor, his original position.

The panel reportedly determined that Metro's practice was to do things in exactly the same way that it later claimed amounted to falsifying reports: leaving the same numbers on inspection reports that had been on previous reports.

ATU Local 689, the union representing Metro workers, said that nearly half of the 67 inspectors and supervisors were disciplined in 2016 for the practice, WTOP reports.
