Murder Charge Filed Against Southeast Man: Police

WASHINGTON, DC — Homicide detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department arrested a Southeast man Wednesday in connection with a June 28 fatal shooting in the area of Barry Farm, according to a police release. Police identified the deceased victim as Antwon Duncan, 20, of Southeast.

Seventh District officers were dispatched around 12:35 p.m., to the 2600 block of Birney Place, S.E., for the report of the sound of gunshots. They found Duncan suffering from gunshot wounds. D.C. Fire and EMS transported the victim to an area hospital, but he was pronounced dead after all live-saving efforts failed.

MPD officers from the Homicide Branch and the Special Investigations Division’s Gun Recovery Unit arrested Diamante Butler, 19, of Southeast, and charged him with first degree murder while armed.
