Northeast DC Man Wanted For Kidnapping, Assault
Metropolitan Police Department detectives are asking the public's help in locating a suspect in connection with a kidnapping offense.

WASHINGTON, DC — Metropolitan Police Department detectives from the Fifth District are asking the public's help in locating Tavarus Dantra Thompson, 27, of Northeast, according to a police release. Thompson is wanted in connection with an assault with a dangerous weapon and kidnapping offense that occurred Saturday morning in the Trinidad area.
Around 10:45 a.m., Thompson and the victim were involved in a verbal dispute in the 1700 block of Trinidad Ave., N.E. Thompson assaulted and threatened the victim, while brandishing a handgun, according to police. The victim escaped and contacted MPD. When the victim returned to the scene with the officers, they found that Thompson had disappeared with the victim's children.
The victim was later reunited with her children, who were unharmed. This case is domestic in nature, according to MPD.

Police released a photo of Thompson, who is currently wanted on a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant for assault with a dangerous weapon and kidnapping. MPD asks anyone with information about this case or Thompson's location to call 202-727-9099 or text a tip to 50411.
MPD is currently offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of anyone who committed a violent crime in the District.
