Northeast Man Faces First Degree Murder Charge: Report

Homicide detectives arrested a Northeast man Thursday in connection with the Oct. 1 fatal shooting of 45-year-old Orlando Miller.

WASHINGTON, DC — Homicide detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department arrested a Northeast man Thursday, in connection with the fatal shooting of Orlando Miller, 45, of no fixed address, according to a police release.

Officers from the Fifth District responded around 12:24 a.m., on Oct. 1, for the report of a shooting in the 1700 Block of Lang Place, N.E. They found Miller suffering from a gunshot wound. After examining him, D.C. Fire and EMS determined that Miller had died.

FEMS later transported Miller to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. An autopsy revealed that he had died from a single gunshot wound and the death was ruled a homicide.

Acting on a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant Thursday, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force located and arrested Tyrone Brown, 64, of Northeast. MPD charged him with first degree murder while armed (premeditated).

MPD revealed Brown's recent arrest history, which includes charges of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, distribution of a controlled substance, and assault with a dangerous weapon. At the time of Miller's shooting, Brown was under the supervision of the District's Pretrial Services Agency.
