Police Arrest Suspect In 2018 Fatal Shooting In Shaw

The FBI and U.S. Marshals Service helped D.C. Police to apprehend the suspect in a 2018 shooting in the Shaw neighborhood.

WASHINGTON, DC -- Metropolitan Police Department homicide detectives announced the arrest of a suspect Monday in a 2018 fatal shooting that took place in the Shaw neighborhood, according to a police release. The Washington Field Office of the FBI and the U.S. Marshals Service Capital Area Task Force assisted MPD in apprehending the suspect.

On Tuesday, July 24, 2018, officers from the Third District responded to the report of the sound of gunshots in the 800 block of R Street, N.W. Officers found an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported by D.C. Fire and EMS to a nearby hospital with life threatening injuries. Efforts to save his life failed and he was pronounced dead. The decedent was identified as Paul Williams Jr., 46, of Southeast.

Acting on a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Juvon Searles, 38, of no fixed address, Monday, Feb. 10, charging him with Second Degree Murder while Armed.
