Police To Host Trunk Or Treat Safe Haven Events Throughout DC

The Metropolitan Police Department is hosting events throughout the District so families can enjoy a safe Halloween.

WASHINGTON, DC — The Metropolitan Police Department is hosting a series of socially distanced Halloween events across the District as a way for children to enjoy the holiday safely. Families are invited to visit their local police station to experience some Halloween fun.

Here are the events scheduled to take place at MPD stations and other locations within the city:

  • First District Trunk or Treat: Oct. 31, 5-8 p.m., at the First District Station, 101 M St., S.W. Officers from the First District are inviting other law enforcement agencies to decorate their vehicles in order to distribute candy.
  • MPD Second District’s Spooktacular Drive-Thru Halloween Event: Oct. 31, 5-7 p.m. Families are invited to stay in their vehicles and drive through the the parking lot of the Chevy Chase Community Center (5601 Connecticut Ave., N.W), and receive treats from officers and members of the Second District's outreach team.
  • MPD Third District Trunk or Treat: Oct. 31, 6-8 p.m. Members of the community will be able to collect treats from the trunks of MPD vehicles parked at the Third District Station (1620 V St., N.W.)
  • Fourth District 4D Virtual Scary Story Writing/Reading Contest: Oct. 31, 6-8 p.m. The outreach team at the Fourth District Station will be soliciting stories from children ages 10-15 in a virtual contest. They will also host a pumpkin carving and decorating contest for children ages 5-9.   • Fifth District Safe Haven/ PSA Trunk and Treat: Oct. 31, 6-10 p.m. Outreach personnel will be decorating the front of the Fifth District Station (1805 Bladensburg Road, N.E.) and distributing candy. Social distancing will be enforced. There will also be a decorated vehicle in a designated where children can pick up treats.
  • Sixth District Halloween Safe Zone: Oct. 31, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Outreach personnel from the Sixth District Station (5002 Hayes St., N.E.) are partnering with the East River Family Strengthening Collaborative (ERFSC) to hand out candy and PPE along with safety and resource information packets. Social distancing with be enforced.
  • Seventh District "Roving" Trunk and Treat: Oct. 31, 4-8 p.m. Seventh District outreach personnel will be hosting a roving Trunk and Treat to pass out candy and treats through the areas of Woodland, Langston, Savannah, Cedar, Congress Heights, and Wheeler Road.
