Obama Gets First Look at 'Game of Thrones' Season 6
New episodes of the popular show have been withheld from TV critics and the public, but not the Commander in Chief.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — There are plenty of perks to being president of the United States -- and one of those perks, it seems, is getting an advance screening of the upcoming "Game of Thrones" season.
HBO has been very secretive about its highly anticipated sixth season of the hit fantasy show, refusing requests from TV critics and others for an early look at episodes.
"Game of Thrones" had a premier event in Hollywood this past Sunday, and a Facebook Live stream from the red carpet included an interview with showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss, who confirmed that Barack Obama had asked for episodes from season 6 of their show ahead of its April 24 premier.

"I think, for both of us, finding out the President wanted advanced copies of the episodes was an 'ah-ha' moment," Weiss said. "That was a very strange moment."
Don't worry, Mr. President, they have no intentions of turning you down. And they're quite flattered, as well.

"He's the leader of the free world," Weiss said.
"When the commander-in-chief says I want to see advance episodes, what are you going to do?" joked Benioff.
As far as what to look forward to in season 6, Benioff made light of recent complaints about how the series had become too violent.
"We've listened, a lot of people were upset about violence and darkness, so this season no one gets hurt and nothing bad happens to anybody, and it's just the happy season," he quipped.
"Game of Thrones: everybody wins," added Weiss.
