Redskins Considered Signing Colin Kaepernick: Report
The Redskins decided not to bring the polarizing quarterback on as a backup to Mark Sanchez.

WASHINGTON, DC -- The Washington Redskins were considering signing Colin Kaepernick as a backup quarterback after injuries to Alex Smith and Colt McCoy, but ultimately decided not to, according to a report.
Pro Football Talk reported that coach Jay Gruden revealed the team had discussed Kaepernick, who has become the face of the Black Lives Matter movement in the NFL and the league's most polarizing figure.
The Redskins were hammered for their decision to sign Reuben Foster, who has been accused of domestic violence. They've stuck with that decision, but they do not appear to be willing to give Kaepernick the same chance, according to the report.

“He’s been talked about and discussed, but we will probably go a different direction,” Gruden reportedly told 106.7 The Fan.
The Redskins lost Smith for the year on Nov. 18, and then McCoy Monday night, leaving the Redskins with just Mark Sanchez as their quarterback option.

Kaepernick had a brief run of NFL stardom that saw him take the San Francisco 49ers to the Super Bowl, but his public protest of kneeling during the national anthem to call attention to systemic racism has made it nearly impossible for him to find any job in the NFL.
