Shooting Death In Northeast Ruled A Homicide: DC Police

D.C. Police are investigating an Oct. 1 shooting that left a 45-year-old man dead as a homicide.

WASHINGTON, DC — Homicide detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department are investigating a fatal shooting that took place early Thursday morning in Northeast, according to a police release. MPD identified the deceased victim as Orlando Miller, 45, of no fixed address.

Officers from the Fifth District responded, around 12:24 a.m., to the 1700 Block of Lang Place, N.E., for the report of a shooting. Arriving officers found Miller suffering from a gunshot wound. D.C. Fire and EMS determined Miller had died and later transported him to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Following an autopsy, the cause of death was determined to be a gunshot wound and the manner of death was ruled a homicide.

MPD is currently offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of any persons responsible for committing a homicide in the District. Police ask anyone with information about this case to call 202-727-9099 or send an anonymous tip by text to 50411.
