Southeast Man Arrested In Triple Homicide: Updated

Homicide detectives arrested Dale Benjamin Tuesday in connection with a triple homicide that took place last July in Marshall Heights.

Updated (Oct. 20, 7:30 p.m.): Acting on a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant, officers from the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force apprehended Dale Benjamin, 33, of Southeast on Tuesday. MPD charged him with second degree murder while armed in connection with the July 7 fatal shooting of Claudette Williams, 56, of Southeast; Marquise Lewis, 29, of Clinton, Maryland; and Juwan Wade, 20, of Northeast.

WASHINGTON, DC — Homicide detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department are seeking the public's help in locating Dale Benjamin, 33, of Southeast, who is wanted in connection with a July 7 triple homicide in Marshall Heights, according to a police report.

Sixth District officers were dispatched around 1:15 a.m., on July 7, to the 5000 block of Bass Place, S.E., for the report of the sound of gunshots. They found an unconscious man and woman inside a vehicle. Both were suffering from gunshot wounds. The officers also located a second unconscious man nearby, also suffering from a gunshot wound. D.C. Fire and EMS determined that all three victims had perished. They were later transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Police identified the decedents as Claudette Williams, 56, of Southeast; Marquise Lewis, 29, of Clinton, Maryland; and Juwan Wade, 20, of Northeast.

Following an investigation, MPD identified Benjamin as a suspect in the case. He is currently wanted on a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant for first degree murder while armed. On Monday, MPD released photos of Benjamin.

MPD is currently offering a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone who has committed a homicide in the District. In partnership with MPD, the U.S. Marshals Service is offering an additional $10,000 for information that leads to Benjamin's arrest.
