Southwest Man Wanted In Fatal Shooting Case: DC Police

Homicide detectives are asking the public's help in locating Steven Rodgers, 28, who is wanted in connection with a Nov. 9 fatal shooting.

WASHINGTON, DC — Homicide detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department are asking the public's help in locating a man they say is wanted in a Nov. 9 fatal shooting case under investigation, according to a police release. Police identified the deceased victim as 25-year-old Martez Jackson, of District Heights, Maryland.

Officers from the Seventh District responded around 8:55 a.m., to the 1400 Block of Howard Road, Southeast for the report of a shooting. They found Jackson inside a vehicle, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. D.C. Fire and EMS transported Jackson to a nearby hospital for treatment. Jackson succumbed to his injuries on Nov. 10 and was pronounced dead.

MPD is asking the public's help in locating Steven Rodgers, 28, of Southwest, who is wanted on a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant for first degree murder while armed-felony murder in connection with this case. Police warn that Rodgers should be considered armed and dangerous.

MPD is currently offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of any persons responsible for committing a homicide in the District. Police ask anyone with information about this case or Rodgers' location to call 202-727-9099 or send an anonymous tip by text to 50411.
