Suspect Arrested In Fatal Stabbing Of Hyattsville Man In January

D.C. Police arrested a Northwest man in connection with the Jan. 5 fatal stabbing of a Hyattsville, Maryland man.

WASHINGTON, DC — The Metropolitan Police Department arrested a Northwest man Wednesday in connection with the fatal stabbing of a Hyattsville, Maryland man in January, according to a police release.

Officers from the Third District were dispatched Sunday, Jan. 5, around 2:21 a.m., to the report of an aggravated assault in the 1200 block of U Street, Northwest. Arriving on the scene, they found an adult male suffering from a stab wound. D.C. Fire and EMS transported the victim to a nearby hospital to be treated for life threatening injuries. All efforts to save the victim's life failed and he was pronounced dead.

The decedent was identified as Dy’Mani Priestley, 22, of Hyattsville, Maryland.

Acting on a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Reginald Hooks, 35, of Northeast, and charged him with second degree murder while armed.
