Suspect Charged In January Fatal Shooting In Mount Vernon Square

D.C. Police arrested a suspect in connection with a Jan. 8 fatal shooting in the Mount Vernon Square area.

WASHINGTON, DC — Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide branch arrested a suspect in a Jan. 8 fatal shooting in the Mount Vernon Square area, according to a police release. MPD identified the victim as Malick Cisse, 18, of Northwest.

Officers from the Third District responded to a call around 11:33 p.m., for a report of the sound of gunshots. Arriving on the scene, they found Chase suffering from a gunshot wound. D.C. Fire and EMS personnel transported him to an area hospital, but life-saving efforts failed and Chase was pronounced dead.

Acting on a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant, MPD arrested William Whitaker, 18, of Southeast, Thursday and charged him with first degree murder while armed (premeditated).
