Teepees are Popping Up Around the Washington Monument (Video)
Dakota Access Pipeline protesters are planning to light a bonfire on the National Mall on Wednesday.

WASHINGTON, DC — Teepees have sprung up on the grounds of the Washington Monument as a protest against the controversial Dakota Access Pipeline this week, and protesters have more activities planned.
Protesters began erecting the teepees Tuesday afternoon around the Washington Monument, and they are also planning to light a bonfire on the National Mall at some point on Wednesday, for which they reportedly have a permit.
DAPL protesters are in the midst of a fight to stop the construction of a final section of the dispute oil pipeline, a battle that has led to violent confrontations between law enforcement and the Standing Rock Sioux in North and South Dakota.

The Obama Administration stopped the pipeline's construction as one of his final acts in office, but President Trump immediately reversed that decision when he assumed office earlier this year. A federal judge on Tuesday declined to block the construction of the final section of the pipeline.
