Veterans Day 2020: Ceremonies, What's Open, Closed In DC

With Veterans Day falling on a Wednesday this year, here's what you can expect as far as openings and closings in our area.

WASHINGTON, DC — Veterans Day is a unique holiday for a couple of reasons: 1) it's always on the same date and is therefore on a different day of the week every year, and 2) it's a borderline holiday in that some people get the day off and others don't.

Veterans Day, originally called Armistice Day, is a federal holiday in the United States that is observed each Nov. 11 to honor veterans who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. It differs from Memorial Day in that Veterans Day honors all who have served, while Memorial Day specifically honors those who died in military service.
