Washington Capitals Victory Parade: Everything You Need To Know
Organizers are expecting more than 100,000 to attend the championship parade after the Caps' 2018 Stanley Cup Finals win.

WASHINGTON, DC -- For the first time in 26 years, there will be a victory parade on Tuesday in Washington, D.C. for one of the four major sports. The Washington Capitals are Stanley Cup Champions following a thrilling 4-3 win over the Las Vegas Golden Knights, and after lifting the cup out west, the Caps will finally have the chance to celebrate with their fans here in D.C. Here's everything you need to know about Tuesday's big event.
What: The 2018 Washington Capitals' Victory Parade. The parade celebrates D.C.'s first major championship team in 26 years, after the Capitals defeated the Western Conference Champion Las Vegas Golden Knights in five games in the Stanley Cup Finals.
When: 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 12

Where: The parade will proceed along Constitution Avenue, starting at 17th Street near the Washington Monument, taking a right onto 7th Street, and then stopping right in front of the U.S. Capitol on the National Mall. There will be an event stage on 7th Street between Jefferson and Madison Drives. The full route actually begins at 23rd Street, but "optimal viewing" will be from 17th to 7th streets.
Attendance: The parade application lists a figure of 100,000+, so get there early if you want a good spot.

Transportation: Avoid taking a car into the city. Most of downtown streets will either be closed or have parking restrictions, so you won't be able to get near the event with your car. Instead, take the Metro to National Mall stops like Federal Triangle, Smithsonian, and Archives/Navy Memorial. Metro will be running extra trains to support the crowds.

Seventh Street will be Emergency No Parking from 6:30 p.m. on Monday, June 11 through 11 p.m. on Tuesday, June 12 from Pennsylvania Avenue, NW to Independence Avenue, SW
Seventh Street will be closed from Constitution Avenue, NW to Independence Avenue, SW during the same time.

Inbound 14th Street Bridge Main Line — all traffic will be directed toward Eastbound I-395
Inbound 14th Street Bridge HOV — all traffic will be directed toward Eastbound I-395
Northbound 12th Street Tunnel — all traffic will be directed toward Eastbound I-395
Eastbound Theodore Roosevelt Bridge — all traffic will be directed toward E Street
Expressway/Potomac River Freeway
Southbound Ninth Street Tunnel
