Washington Monument To Reopen To Public After Six-Month Closure

WASHINGTON, DC — The Washington Monument will reopen to the public on Wednesday after a six-month closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the National Park Service announced Monday.
The monument will be open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Masks will be required for everyone, regardless of vaccination status, inside the monument.
With the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Washington Monument closed in March 2020. It reopened in October 2020 before closing again in January due to the spike in COVID-19 cases and deaths.

The NPS said its operational approach to reopening facilities is centered on examining each facility's function and service to ensure those operations comply with current public health guidance and will be regularly monitored.
Tickets for the Washington Monument will be available online only at recreation.gov. There will be no tickets distributed on site.

Tickets will become available daily at 10 a.m. for the next day’s visits. Each ticket is good for up to four people in a group traveling together. There is a non-refundable reservation fee of $1 per ticket.
Along with the Washington Monument, people must wear masks inside all facilities on the National Mall, regardless of vaccination status.
