Bear Attacks Naples Man, Gets 41 Stitches

NAPLES, FL - A Naples man says he was walking his dog at at his Naples apartment complex about 11 p.m. when he was attacked by a 4-foot black bear. Andrew Meunier is recovering after the attack left an 8-inch gash across his forehead and down his right cheek, requiring 41 stitches.

Meunier said he was concerned for his life. "I’m really just happy to be alive," Meunier said. "It could have been a totally different story. He was right there," Meunier told WINK News. "I tried to run and wasn’t fast enough."

Florida Fish and Wildlife officials have set up traps to capture the bears.
