June 1, 2026 News from Scott Ryfun. iHeart Radio (theislanderonline.com) — Glynn County police and Brunswick PD carried out several late‑week drug and theft operations, including arrests at a Stonewall Street home and at Academy Sports. A major Friday sweep at the Economy Inn on 341 led to multiple drug arrests and a joint inspection that shut the motel down over serious safety, health, and licensing violations.

2. Georgia recreational, commercial oyster season to close for summer (einpresswire.com) — If you harvest or enjoy local oysters around Brunswick, be aware that Georgia’s recreational and commercial oyster season closed at 6 a.m. June 1 and will reopen October 1. The state DNR says the summer shutdown helps prevent illness from naturally occurring Vibrio bacteria in warm waters, though some tightly regulated mariculture farms may get limited harvest permission.

National Eucharistic Pilgrimage Visits Savannah (patheos.com) — A national Catholic pilgrimage recently stopped at Saint Francis Xavier Parish in Brunswick, drawing local faithful for a procession at Hanover Park, Mass, and talks on coastal Georgia’s Catholic history. Pilgrims also visited nearby Fort King George State Park and Nativity of Our Lady Mission before continuing on to other Savannah-area parishes and then into South Carolina.

Georgia Gas Prices Ease amid Uncertainty (wnegradio.com) — Brunswick drivers are currently paying among the lowest gas prices in Georgia, with an average of about $3.60 per gallon compared with the $3.85 statewide average. AAA says prices have dipped thanks to lower crude oil costs tied to Iran peace talk reports, but warns that global uncertainty could quickly push prices back up, so shopping around locally still matters.
