FLORIDA — Public school teachers in Florida can make vastly different salaries, depending on which school district they work for.

Most top school districts in Florida pay their teachers a salary around $50,000, making the state one of the worst in the nation for teacher salaries, according to Niche. Top school systems in Illinois and New York average teacher pay of $90,000 to just over $100,000.

Among Florida school districts with "A" grades, the average salary paid to teachers ranged from a high of $59,000 in Collier County Public Schools to the lowest average pay listed for Clay County School District at about $43,000, according to Niche.
