Best Small Town In FL Deep Rooted In History: Southern Living

ST. AUGUSTINE, FL — Each southern state has its own little nugget of gold, a city with a small town feel, and Florida is no different.

Southern Living recently released its list of the South's Best 2024 award recipients, including those for Best Small Town, declaring St. Augustine as Florida's victor yet again.

The winners were selected by Southern Living readers via a third-party agency, Proof Insights. The regional magazine said online voting took place last year from July 12-Aug. 23.

More than 20,000 people made nominations and voted in the publication's eighth annual contest.

St. Augustine offers public events, including an Easter parade on March 30, and has various arts and culture offerings. Along the St. Augustine Municipal Marina are 4-star restaurants, antique stores, a boaters lounge and gift shops.

Southern Living's depiction of St. Augustine is as follows:

"St. Augustine has a long and storied history that can be seen in the city’s architecture. Sites like the Castillo de San Marcos, Fort Mose Historic State Park, Colonial Quarter and Ponce De Leon’s Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park explore that history and invite visitors to learn more about the Ancient City’s rich past."
