PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL — Palm Beach County officials are investigating the Hilton Palm Beach Airport Hotel after Gov. Ron DeSantis spoke to a group of more than 100 mostly maskless people there Friday, CNN reported.

The county has a mask mandate in effect through March 19, reports said. Face coverings must be worn in any county business or establishment.

John Jamason, the county’s deputy director of public affairs, told CNN that county officials were alerted about the maskless crowd about 15 minutes before the event started.

He said that businesses are required to enforce the mask mandate, and the Palm Beach Code Enforcement and Compliance Team is investigating the event. They’ll determine whether the hotel will be fined or penalized in another way, he said.

"We have spoken to Hilton management and will be following up with them and event organizers in accordance with our normal compliance procedures," Jamason told CNN.
